Several symptoms can indicate heart problems. These generally include:

  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Loss of energy
  • Arrhythmias

Remember that this article is merely indicative and that the presence of any of these symptoms may be due to a wide variety of reasons and does not necessarily mean that there is a serious health problem. However, it is essential that if you have any doubts, you approach your doctor.

Chest pain

Chest pain is often the main warning sign of the following heart problems:

  • Heart attack: during a heart attack, the pain is felt as pressure behind the breastbone or over the heart. From there, the pain radiates to the neck, lower jaw, upper abdomen, and left arm.
  • Inflammation of the heart muscle (myocarditis): palpitations, a racing heart, or a tingling sensation in the chest combined with shortness of breath and swelling of the legs may indicate inflammation of the heart muscle.
  • Pericarditis: stabbing pain that increases when lying down is often caused by pericarditis.
  • Tear in the main artery: This heart problem often causes severe chest pain that radiates to the back, stomach, and legs.
  • Pulmonary embolism: severe chest pain and shortness of breath.
Shortness of breath

Shortness of breath is relatively common and can have a variety of causes, not always related to our heart. However, shortness of breath under stress may indicate health problems such as heart failure, narrowing of the coronary arteries, or inflammation of the heart muscle.

Loss of energy

The appearance of general weakness and fatigue combined with rapid weight loss or body aches may indicate inflammation of the heart muscle. With this health problem, the ability of the heart muscle to contract is altered or weakened. As a result, there is a drop in the affected person’s performance.

Arrhythmias

Heart problems, such as irregular pulses and arrhythmias, can occur independently of serious heart disease, but also often occur as a symptom of heart valve defects, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, or heart failure. As a general rule, a healthy person’s heart always beats at the same rate, between 60 and 80 times per minute. If there are no heart problems, it automatically adapts to different loads depending on the activity and situation in which we find ourselves. If this is not the case, it is important to visit a doctor to find out the reason for the arrhythmia.

Some habits can help us reduce the chances of developing heart disease. Not smoking, maintaining a healthy weight, and learning stress management techniques are among them. Another way to improve cardiovascular health is to increase amino acid intake through a dietary supplement such as Chol-less.
