Don’t forget to perform the necessary maintenance tasks to prepare your home for winter. For example, make sure your heating system is working properly.
Because cold weather can aggravate certain illnesses and because some medications can make the body more sensitive to cold, some people are more prone to the effects of winter weather. If this is the case for you, consult a health professional. Another good idea is to give your immune system a boost with a vitamin supplement such as Immune Support or Vitamin C.

During the winter:
-
When you go out, dress warmly. If the weather requires it, cover your head, nose, mouth, neck, hands and feet. If there is snow, wear boots that will keep your feet warm and keep you from slipping. Don’t stay outdoors too long without adequate protection from the cold!
- Dress in layers. The clothes you wear on top of all others should be windproof and waterproof.
- Maintain a regular activity level, e.g., walking constantly.
- Don’t drink alcoholic beverages to an excessive amount. Contrary to popular belief, this will not warm you up. On the contrary, alcohol consumption can further lower your body temperature and cause hypothermia.
